Rhubarb Kitchen
The Queen's jubilee, royal weddings, the Olympics - what a great few years to be British and so we thought that it was time to bring a piece of Old England to New England! Rhubarb Kitchen is located in Darien, CT and devotes itself to spreading the word about the delights of British cooking - think of the culinary delights of Gordon Ramsay in a fun, relaxed atmosphere with absolutely no screaming!
Our demonstrations and tastings include a wide range of traditional British dishes, from the traditional Sunday Roast lunch which perfectly compliments a typical wet British Sunday afternoon, through to the intricate afternoon tea that encapsulates the quintessential English summer's day, via many other British favourites in between.
Rhubarb Kitchen is run by Rebecca from England and Lisa from Ireland, whose passion for food shines through in every aspect of each class,
together with their desire to ensure that everyone has fun while learning about this wonderful aspect of British culture. As well as learning how to make a traditional British dish from basic ingredients you will have the chance to sample the results whilst enjoying a glass of wine (don't worry, not British wine!).
We offer weekly classes but can also organise private classes for larger parties, which are ideal for team building, corporate events or birthday parties. Our afternoon tea lends itself perfectly to bridal and baby showers. Whatever your event or reason, Rhubarb Kitchen can promise a fun-filled time while learning how fantastic British cusine can be.

Rebecca Binks (Becs)
I was born in 1978 in Kent (aptly known the Garden of England). I grew up learning British cooking from having to help my grandma, mother and eight aunties cook for a large family. After finishing my studies I embarked on a career in banking with Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers. As a Sales Trader one of the main perks was wining and dining my clients a couple of times a week across London and hence managing to visit all of London's top restaurants. (And at the weekends I entered marathons, duathlons and skied a lot to balance out all the fine dining!!). In 2009 I left banking and spent 5 months in Chamonix, France to indulge my passion for skiing, where I fell even more in love with French cuisine. Upon leaving France my family and I moved to Madrid, Spain, only to find that I might like Spanish food even more! We also holidayed across the globe in every continent except Antartica (got close in Patagonia but didn't quite make it) and I enjoyed cooking classes in places as diverse as The Algarve in Portugal and Luang Prabang in Laos. But throughout all of this global gastronomic adventure I never lost my fondness and appetite for good old British cooking, and realised at the same time that good quality British food can be hard to come by abroad. From Madrid we moved to New York in 2011 where I met Lisa & the collaboration for Rhubarb Kitchen was born. After having my second child we moved out to Connecticut, near to Lisa, so we could further develop this amazing business.... RHUBARB KITCHEN!

Growing up in Ireland in a home where the kitchen was the center of the house, I learned to love the process of cooking from farm to fork. Summer days picking berries. Neighbors calling at the door with boxes of vegetables. And most vividly, long lingering evenings preparing what we had gathered, to create the shared experience of the family meal.
I love how certain aromas and flavors can instantly conjure up vivid memories - my favorite being rosemary stuffed roast chicken, which fills me with joyful recollections of my mother’s incredible
sunday lunches.
I graduated from the University of Ulster in Optometry and practiced in Belfast, Ireland, for eight, very enjoyable and fulfilling years. My second career is as a mother of two ‘impishly beautiful’ boys and it has brought more joy and craziness than I could ever have imagined.
I have been around food and the restaurant industry my whole life and have always been looking for the perfect forum to share my passion for
food. Meeting Becs in New York City and our wonderful ‘afternoon teas’, accompanied of course by scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, reminded me of what great food and great company is all about. And so - Rhubarb Kitchen was born.
Cooking can be just as much fun as eating. Well almost. Let us show you. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of home, right here in Connecticut – Rhubarb Kitchen.
